Remi was a 3 ½
year old purebred Vizsla who was surrendered to a shelter in
Prescott, AZ by his owner’s agent. We were told that the owners were
in Paris at the time. It was also said by the person who surrendered
him, that he had bitten someone. We were contacted by an AZ Vizsla
rescue volunteer and asked if we could help out by taking the dog.
I agreed to take Remi, due to my experience with dogs that have a
history of one bite and could have an explanation as to the
incident. We got Remi to my home and everything was just fine. He
got along with my dogs and cats, no problem. This dog was drop dead
I was constantly monitoring him to see if I could notice any
undesirable behavior. I did notice that he was extremely prey
driven, but didn’t bother my cats. There was just something I
couldn’t put my finger on. Then by September there were 2 more
bite/aggression behaviors. It was so sad, but we had to believe he
was not adoptable and had to be helped across the Rainbow Bridge.
This was very difficult for me having to help him cross over the
Bridge. But I know he is free of his demons and will be waiting for
me at the Bridge when it is my time.
Remi was a casualty of extremely poor breeding. His temperament was
unpredictable, he had bitten someone prior to coming into 2nd
