Hi guys! My name is Draco and I am around 6 to 8 months old. They say that I look so much like a purebred, I could be one; but who knows as I was picked up by animal control in a small village in New Mexico. My plight was forwarded to Rita at 2nd Chance Vizsla Rescue in Colorado. Arrangements were made to transport me to Colorado along with Willow, who everyone thinks is my sister. She doesn’t really look like me unless you think of us as sort of yin and yang siblings – I am red and she is mahogany with a red undercoat, regardless we really love each other and we were glad to see each other at the shelter.

Our journey started with 2 different car rides and then a stop for a few days in Albuquerque, NM with another 2CVR volunteer to get the rest of our vet work done. Then 2 more car rides and an overnight stay with more volunteers and we arrived in northern Colorado. That’s a lot of volunteers needed for just little Willow and me – I’ve heard it takes a village, but it must also take a village to help save a Vizsla!
Soooo, more about me… I am a real happy puppy, but a big pup, and I get along great with other dogs. I have LOTS of energy and love to run and play, especially with Willow. The best part about me is I have found my forever home! I will get to live at a guest ranch in the forest and go on daily trail rides, and interact with the guests. I am such a lucky boy! My new mom and Dad adopted their current dog, Jack, 10 years ago (also a rescue like me that Rita helped). Since Jack was getting up there in years and not able to be as active as he used to be, they wanted to get a younger dog to be a buddy to Jack and do the things that Jack used to do and I was a perfect fit. I could not have imagined a better ending to my story, in fact this is just the beginning. Yipeeeee!!!
