Hello there my name is Penny and I am a 3 year old purebred Vizsla. My former family took me to the local shelter in Carlsbad. They told the shelter that they thought I was pregnant and didn’t want me anymore. The shelter contacted 2nd Chance Vizsla Rescue and they arranged for a foster volunteer to come and pick me up. I was very lethargic and evidence of having my skull crushed when I was a pup, caused some concern. The nice man that picked me up and was fostering me took me to the vet and they determined I was not pregnant and after some tests also said I was healthy… but why so glum? Well, whatever my life was like before, I’m not saying - but I was very depressed! Neal, my foster dad, was real worried about me. It took some time but I slowly started getting out of my funk, at least I was getting up out of bed. No leaps and bounds but it was still an improvement. Turns out Neal was also in the process of looking for a Vizsla to adopt and fell in love with me and wanted to adopt me although was very concerned about my depression. One day Neal got another Vizsla foster in the house named Ruger. Ruger recognizing another Vizsla went straight to work on getting me to play – he must have sensed the puppy in me just begging to break out. Well Ruger was able to break down the walls of my depression and chase all the blues away! Neal was very happy when he saw the new me Ruger released and decided to adopt both of us! The three of us make an incredible family. Everyone, including me, is very happy
