November 14, 2010 – September 9, 2021
On this date, I had to say good bye to my sugar face best friend, Chilli Bean. She had not been feeling well for quite some time. And as you know, Vizslas don’t let you know when they don’t feel well. Her eyes were alert and telling me that she was ok. But behind those beautiful eyes was a lot of pain that she couldn’t hide from me.
She came into this world as one of the biggest surprises I have ever experienced. I was doing my morning chores, letting our dogs out to do their business and preparing their breakfast. When I bent down to let Beans (Champion Red Sage Full of Beans) out of her crate, she was not alone. She had been hiding her pregnancy and surprised us with a perfectly healthy little girl. November is a cold month and since she was born on a cold day, I named her Chilli Bean since her mom’s name was Red Sage Full of Beans. Her dad, also a champion (CH Brylynns Red Sage Aspenglo).
Chilli lost her mom in 2017 from a heart attack. She seemed to take her loss pretty good. She became very close to her cat buddy – Sage. They were very close since Chilli’s birth. Then our foster dog, Annie, came along and they became good buddies. They were always together and I often caught Chilli trying to cuddle up to Annie like she used to do with her mom. Annie does seem to be sad, wondering what we did with her friend.
It will be quite a reunion when I get to see them all again. - Rita
