Riley 's RB Story

Riley's RB Story

December 3, 2014 – March 18, 2022

We are sad to say we had to say goodbye to our three-legged golden girl. Riley joined our family on Labor Day weekend September 5, 2015, and left us on March 18, 2022. She brought our family many wonderful times and laughs, we will never forget her.

Riley had a very hard life. As a puppy, she was dropped at the Humane Society by her first owner. She had a torn ACL on her rear leg at a young age, and was left untreated. She could not use her left hind leg for a long time. 2CVR was notified by the shelter of her health problems and immediately picked her up. She had an ACL repair surgery, physical therapy, neurosurgeon evaluation, but that back leg was not moving ever again, and the final decision was amputation.

Riley had a hard time walking later on, at one point she just could not get up and walk, and my husband had to carry her out to the potty for a while. After many Vet Specialists visit, she was diagnosed with Immune Mediated Non-Erosive Polyarthritis. She could not walk without steroids-Prednisone.

Eventually Riley’s right rear leg got moderately abducted at the hock, and she was wearing a brace from then, and she had no cartilage left in that ankle. She developed significant secondary bone production around the right hock the size of a lime at the end and she no longer could get around. Her legs gave up because of her disease.

No doubt Riley had a hard life from the start, she was the strongest dog, and got famous at the vet because of her strong will to live. She never complained, she lived for us the longest she could. The vet called her the miracle dog, because after her cartilage was gone, the orthopedic specialist said there was nothing more they could do, and she lived a few more years longer.

Even though Riley had a very hard life, the last 6 years she lived happily and she was able to move around. She never complained to us.

Riley had a job around the house. Her duty was pre-cleaning the dishes, and reminding us when it was feeding time. She would never let us forget when feeding time was. She loved 3-wheel driving in the snow and she loved to go for Jeep rides and her name was (Jeep Queen Riley).

She picked us when we met her, and could not wait to come home with us. We loved her so much, and she is in peace forever.
